If you want to know more about what a Maker Space is, read through the posts on this blog - or you can Google "School Maker Spaces".
Here is the video that we showed at school:
Parents and Grandparents - We Need Your Help Too!
We will need adults to help supervise the Maker Space Club when it meets (there will always be a teacher or two there as well). We'd especially love for adults who are handy with tools (woodworking, electrical circuits, sewing, etc.) to come and help teach students how to use these tools safely and effectively.
We also need tools and materials to stock our space. We are going to start with donated items to keep costs down. If you have any tools (that are still in working order) or materials that you don't need, we'd certainly appreciate giving them a home. Here's a short list of the types of items we are looking for (but if you have anything else, let us know - we'll probably take that too!)
· Soldering guns
· Hand Tools and Small Power Tools
· Glue Guns
· Fasteners including glue, tapes, screws, nails, brads
· Wire (insulated and uninsulated)
· Sewing machine
· Fabrics and trims
· Craft supplies (popsicle sticks, yarn, pom-poms, markers, paint, pipe cleaners, colored paper, foam shapes, dowels)
· Peg board and organizing bins
If you would like to help in any way (time, tools, materials), please email Tanya Hyman:
